New publications are checked daily. Some feeds update automatically after validation; other datasets need a reviewed website release. Publication dates always remain visible.
Successful publisher checks are spaced 22 hours apart and run when the map or data-status page is used, including by daily monitoring. Accepted releases update local counts and national comparison scores together. Failed checks are retried after one hour when requested. Irish publications must contain a complete, reconciled council occupancy table.
Supported Scottish linked data and matching Irish CJQ10/CJQ11 releases are checked when a place report refreshes. Successful cache windows total less than 24 hours when requested. An older release cannot replace newer figures; changed formats need review.
Household tenure, population and ethnicity use the published 2021 or 2022 census. New census data and boundary changes require a validated import and website publication. Social-housing scores recalculate from the updated household figures.
England/Wales annual crime, Northern Ireland district crime, mapped amenities, A&E directories and climate snapshots require reviewed imports and publication. Flood and earthquake lookups use the source-specific arrangements described in the methodology.
These are the stored releases used by the map. A successful check date is separate from the date the people were counted. Refreshes run in the background; the completed check shown here may precede this visit.

View publisher’s release ↗Council and policing boundaries are resolved independently. A county, district or division figure is labelled with that area; it is not a count for one street or village. Population density divides census population by the same official area.
The complete stored candidate pool is searched from the clicked coordinate. Distances are straight lines to mapped coordinates, not road distances. The food-shop category includes supermarkets, groceries and convenience stores. Directory omissions and closures remain possible.
Rainfall and sunshine are long-term station averages. The station name and distance are shown, since local weather can differ. Historic flood outlines do not establish a probability. A flood score is displayed only when a modelled official band is returned. Earthquake history is dated and does not predict future events.
Social-rented households come from the 2021 or 2022 census, not a current housing-stock inventory. Accommodation figures cover the named Home Office or IPAS scheme, not all migrants. Each council score compares with the national total from the same accommodation release.
“Published” means a usable source observation exists, not that the number was measured today. Daily monitoring does not guarantee an immediate public update. See methods and source links for each series.
